District of Columbia, we’ve arrived. Shift is ecstatic to announce the opening of our first East Coast branch–and we couldn’t think of a better place to kick things off than in our nation’s capital. It makes perfect sense: cars are undeniably American. Cars are what Shift does. DC is America. Shift is in DC. See what we did there? It was meant to be.
As President Obama once said, “I don’t care if you’re driving a hybrid or an SUV. If you’re headed for a cliff, you need to change direction.” We don’t really know what the second part of that quote is about, but we wholeheartedly agree with the first bit. We don’t care if you’re driving a hybrid or an SUV–we just want to help you buy that hybrid and sell that SUV (or vice-versa… we’re nonpartisan when it comes to vehicles).
You may have seen Shift in the news lately, as we just announced our new East Coast engineering operation in Northern Virginia. We’re putting $20 million into that endeavor. And now, just up the highway, we’ll be delivering test drives, doing on-demand evaluations, and helping folks buy and sell cars all across the DC metro area.
Want to beat the crowds to Ben’s Chili Bowl? With a new-to-you BMW 328i, you’ll nab the first steaming half-smoke off the griddle. Bun in the oven? We’ll take your trusty 2011 Corolla and swap you one 2013 Acura RDX, with room for the whole growing brood. Do you work for the CIA? You’ll need to get to Langley somehow, and that aforementioned 2011 Corolla flies right under the radar.
We can’t wait to become a part of your driving life. Whether you’re headed on a first date or to your first day of college, hauling tchotchkes to a new apartment or listening to NPR on your commute to… NPR–we’ll be there. We’ll be there to help you buy, to help you sell, to help you drive.
This is just the beginning, too. We’re planning to be in 20 cities by the end of this year. See you soon, Baton Rouge!
